NASHVILLE -- Barry Trotz's departure from Long Island brought a lot of speculation, with no real answers from either party.

Regardless of why Trotz was relieved of his duties as New York Islanders head coach following the lackluster 2021-22 campaign, he landed back where he started, just in a different role.

In February, the Nashville Predators announced that Trotz would be officially taking David Poile's place as general manager on July 1.

Poile left Washington to become the general manager of the NHL's newest team in 1998. His first head coach was Trotz, who coached the team from 1998-2014.

On Wednesday night, day one of the NHL Draft, Trotz, and Poile announced their club's first pick, No. 15.

Back in front of the home faithful, Trotz received a huge ovation from the crowd at Bridgestone Arena.
