    Islanders Turn Tables On Kings; Win 3-2 In OT

    ELMONT, NY – The New York Islanders came back from down two goals in the third period to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in overtime. 

    JG Pageau scored the overtime winner just 12 seconds into overtime.

    Ilya Sorokin made 34 saves on 36 shots in the win, where Cam Talbot was given the loss after making 27 saves on 30 shots.

    The Islanders went 0-for-4 on the power play, and only gave up one goal during their five kills.

    After one period of play the game was scoreless. The Islanders had 11 shots compared to the Kings nine. Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play after 20 minutes.

    Adrian Kempe got the scoring started for the Kings 5:40 into the second period. The goal game on the power play on a cross ice pass from Fiala to Kempe. Drew Doughty had the secondary assist.

    The Kings capitalized on an Islanders failed clear and took a 2-0 lead. Vladislav Gavrikov scored the goal with Fiala getting his second assist of the game. Danault had the secondary. The goal was challenged for goaltender interference, but stood at 9:08.

    Mathew Barzal hit the crossbar during a scoring chance in the final minute of the second period. The Kings completed the second period taking ten more shots than the Islanders, while leading the score 2-0.

    Pierre Engvall was stoned on a breakaway with around 12 minutes remaining in the game.

    Shortly after, with 11:18 to go in the third Anders Lee buried a rebound just outside the crease. The Islanders made it a one-goal game, a 2-1 score. Mathew Barzal and Mike Reilly assisted.

    Lee wasn't done as he tied the game with another rebound goal off a Scott Mayfield shot with just 4:11 remaining in the game. 

    The Islanders had a major flurry of chances with under two minutes left, starting with a Palmieri chance that hit the post but failed to find the winner. The game needed overtime after 60 minutes with the score tied at two.

    This was the Kings first road lost this season; entering tonight's contest with an 11-0-0 in road games.
