In the New York Islanders' matchup with the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, forward Kyle Palmieri recorded his 500th NHL point in the first period.
Palmieri reached the milestone at 12:27 of the opening frame on the power play after he earned the secondary assist on Anders Lee's goal:
In his 847 career games, Palmieri has 256 goals and 244 assists to combine for the milestone. He becomes the 556th player in league history to reach 500 points.
Palmieri started his career with the Anaheim Ducks, where he tallied 73 goals and 71 assists for 144 points in 198 games. After five seasons, he was dealt to the New Jersey Devils in the summer of 2015. With the Devils, he recorded 140 goals and 126 assists for 266 points in 397 games.
The Smithtown, New York native joined the Islanders in a deal with the Devils in April 2021 alongside forward Travis Zajac. After playing as a part of their 2021 Stanley Cup Playoff run, he inked a four-year, $20 million contract that summer to remain with the franchise.
With the Islanders, he boasts 10 goals and 11 assists for 145 points.
He hit the 30-goal mark for the second time in his career last season.
