ELMONT, NY -- In their final game of the 2023-24 regular season against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Islanders rested Mathew Barzal, Pierre Engvall, and Hudson Fasching, with Anders Lee missing the game due to personal reasons.

Unfortunately for New York, they couldn't rest everyone and saw Jean-Gabriel Pageau suffer a lower-body injury with 9:18 to play in the first.

He did not return.

On Pageau's final shift, he cut to the low slot before getting tangled up with Penguins forward Reilly Smith, buckling his right knee.

He skated off before going down the tunnel.

The Islanders have not provided any information on his status.
