The New York Islanders snapped their six-game skid with a 4-3 overtime win over the Seattle Kraken Thursday night at Climate Pledge Arena.
SEATTLE, WA -- The New York Islanders lost their seventh straight game as they fell 4-3 to the Seattle Kraken in an eight-round shootout.
RAPID RECAP:
For the third straight game, the Islanders scored the first goal, with Anders Lee (2) burying on the power play 3:46 into the first period as he finished off a Bo Horvat pass from the top of the crease.
That was Lee's first point in 11 games, and with the assist, Horvat extended his point streak to four games (one goal, three assists).
With two power-play goals in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks on two tries and Lee's tally, the Islanders' power play was three for their last three.
Then came the penalty kill, which allowed two goals in the first frame, with Scott Mayfield taking two penalties.
Pulock had a chance to clear the zone on each goal against, with Matty Beniers scoring Seattle's first of the game at 9:54 of the first before Alex Wennberg scored with 1:31 to go in the opening frame.
Casey Cizikas (3) evened up the score at 2-2 at 14:25 of the second after he finished off a strong feed from Mathew Barzal.
That was Cizikas' 100th career NHL goal, and with the assist, Barzal extended his point streak to three games (one goal, three assists). Pulock earned the second assist.
Noah Dobson (5) put New York on top 3-2 as he buried a one-time feed on the power play from Barzal just 1:48 in the third.
That was the Islanders second third-period goal in their last seven games, and it gave the Islanders power play their fourth goal on their last six opportunities.
But yet again, the penalty kill couldn't get the job as with Lee in the box for slashing, Kailer Yamamoto tied the game at 3-3 on the backhand at 4:50 of the third.
The Islanders penalty kill had allowed 12 goals on their last 23 chances.
Yamamoto won it for Seattle in the eighth round of the shootout.
