What a week it's been for Tony DeAngelo.
TAMPA, FL -- Based on Tony DeAngelo’s calm tone on Saturday night, no one would be able to tell that he had just scored the overtime-winning goal to extend the New York Islanders' win streak to three games.
But that was the fact of the situation, which made him the man of the moment:
"It was great. Pelech was changing. [The Lightning] also had to change one at the same time," DeAngelo said. "We're on the offensive side of things. I get almost a 10-12-foot head start from their guy. And Bo Horvat makes a great read, not holding on to it, just sending it up, and I was fortunate enough to finish it.
"I don't know if [Horvat] could hear me call out. But he turned around, made eye contact, and we had a second-and-a-half there, two seconds, so it's a great play."

DeAngelo has been a member of the Islanders for a week now, four games, and he hasn’t been on the ice for a loss. He's played 25:33 minutes per game, quarterbacking the top power play and even getting some penalty kill minutes under his belt, too.
Through those four games, he has nine shots, a goal, and an assist. He is also a +4, skating primarily alongside Alexander Romanov, the club's best all-around defenseman right now.
While the circumstances that led to his arrival aren't ideal, with Noah Dobson and Ryan Pulock sustaining longer-term injuries, DeAngelo is happy to be a part of this group.
"You don't like to see anybody get injured, no matter what it does for you or anybody else. That's not what you're looking for," DeAngelo said. "But it's part of the game. At the same time, you guys got to come in and step up. And we've had multiple guys come and step up on both sides of the puck. So it's been really good.
"We got great vibes going right now, as you guys can imagine...seven in a row. So I've come in, and it's been nothing but good things. And it's a pleasure to be here,"

Bo Horvat, who fed DeAngelo for the goal, discussed what the newest No. 4 has meant to the group since joining the team.
"He's been phenomenal. I mean, he's playing close to 30 minutes every night, and penalty kill and power play," Horvat said. "He's doing all the little things playing against our team's top lines. He's been phenomenal for us. We're lucky to have him. And obviously a great pickup."
The word head coach Patrick Roy chose to use was "outstanding."
"Outstanding. That's my word, outstanding," Roy said. I mean, all the guys that have come in. I mean, it's impressive, all three of them adjust and adapt so well to what we're trying to do right off the bat.
"They're doing well, and that helps our team a lot."
When DeAngelo has been on the ice the last four games at 5-on-5 (81:51), the Islanders have recorded 49 shots, a team-high, allowing 38. He's been on the ice for three goals for and two against.
DeAngelo and the Islanders will look to keep the winning going when they battle the Florida Panthers on Sunday night at 6 PM ET.
