Boqvist becomes the third defenseman the Islanders acquired within the last week after bringing Tony DeAngelo in last Friday before acquiring Scott Perunovich from the St. Louis Blues on Monday.

TAMPA, FL -- The New York Islanders have claimed defenseman Adam Boqvist off waivers from the Florida Panthers:

The 24-year-old, former 8th overall pick in 2018 by the Chicago Blackhawks, has six points (two goals, four assists) in 18 games this season. 

Over his six-year NHL career, the Swedish blueliner has 81 points (25 goals, 66 assists) in 227 career games. 

Rookie Isaiah George has been sent down to create the spot.
