The July 30 deadline looms as New York’s fourth-round pick seeks a new deal. This high-stakes filing also unlocks a strategic buyout window for the Islanders' front office.
On Sunday night, PuckPedia announced all the dates for any restricted free agents who filed for salary arbitration.
New York Islanders prospect Alex Jefferies has his arbitration hearing date set for Thursday, July 30:
Jefferies, who the Islanders selected in the fourth round (No. 121) at the 2020 NHL Draft, has recorded back-to-back 29-point seasons for Bridgeport and was tendered a one-year qualifying offer worth $850,000.
The Islanders and Jefferies' camp can still negotiate and come to terms on a deal before his hearing date.
Just because Jefferies filed, the Islanders will get a second buyout window for 48 hours, which begins three days after the arbitration case is settled or awarded.
Only players with an AAV north of $4 million can be bought out.
