It has been an interesting past two seasons for former New York Islanders forward Anthony Beauvillier.
After starting last season on Long Island, he, along with prospect Aatu Raty and a 2023 conditional first-round draft pick, was sent to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Bo Horvat on Jan. 31, during the league's All-Star break.
Beauvillier played 55 games over the course of two partial seasons for the Canucks recording 28 points, scoring 11 goals, and 17 assists, before he was on the move again.
On Nov. 28, 2023, the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks sent the Canucks a 2024 conditional 5th-round pick for the speedy forward.
Beauvillier has played only 19 games for the Blackhawks this season as he's spent over a month on injured reserve after suffering a left wrist injury on Jan. 2 against the Nashville Predators.
He has recorded six points, with two goals and four assists, playing primarily in Chicago's bottom six.
But, with the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline around the corner, with Beauvillier in the final year of a three-year deal worth $12.45 million ($4.15 M AAV), it can't be a coincidence that he's found himself alongside rookie phenom Connor Bedard.
After skating alongside Bedard in their 3-2 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Feb. 25, he's back there Wednesday night against the
This will be Beauvillier’s fifth game since being activated off the IR on Feb. 19. This will also be his second straight game playing alongside Blackhawks rookie sensation Connor Bedard. Bedard has 40 points in 45 games, netting 17 goals with 23 assists.
This could be a potential string of showcase games for Beauvillier before the trade deadline, having him play alongside the very talented Bedard. Beauvillier is in the last year of his contract, which he originally signed with the Islanders back in Sep. 2021 at an AAV of 4.15 million dollars.
If Beauvillier were to be moved, Chicago would likely have to retain some salary; which they are capable of doing, having just over nine million dollars in cap space.
