After blocking a shot Saturday night, despite returning, New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat was not on the ice Monday morning.

EAST MEADOW, NY -- The New York Islanders had an injury scare on Saturday night, as forward Bo Horvat left the ice with 9:33 to play in the third after blocking a Brady Skjei shot off the left ankle.

Initially, it seemed that the puck struck Horvat's left skate, breaking the blade. But that wasn't what popped off from Horvat's foot.

    It was his ankle protection.

Horvat did return less than five minutes later, playing another three shifts in regulation and one in overtime.

After the game, Islanders head coach Lane Lambert had this to say:

"He came back. I don't have any update on him."

Horvat was not on the ice for practice, and we will update this story following the skate.

The Islanders just welcomed back Scott Mayfield a few games ago after he blocked a shot in the season-opening 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Defenseman Adam Pelech missed most of the Islanders' Thursday matchup against the Washington Capitals with a lower-body injury, which forced him out of the lineup Saturday.

A Horvat loss for any significant time would mean more line changes coming for New York.
