Brent Sutter was a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Islanders, serving as their captain from 1987-1991.

On Jan. 18, when the New York Islanders host the San Jose Sharks at 7:30 PM ET, Brent Sutter will be inducted into the team's Hockey Hall of Fame.

The now 62-year-old will become the 16th player to be inducted.

The fourth captain in franchise history, Sutter, donning No. 21, played 694 games in the Blue & Orange, scoring 287 goals with 323 assists for 610 points, the sixth-best in franchise history. 

He scored the Islanders' opening goal in Game 4 of the 1984 Stanley Cup Final and also has two playoff overtime goals, scoring one against the New Jersey Devils in 1988 and against the New York Rangers in 1990:

He was part of the Stanley Cup teams in 1982 and 1983 and served as the team's captain from 1987 to 1991. 

After retiring from the NHL following the 1997-98 season, his sixth and final season with the Chicago Blackhawks, Sutter went into coaching. 

He served as head coach for Lamoriello's New Jersey Devils from 2007-2009 before being behind the Calgary Flames bench from 2010-2012.

He took pride in his role and epitomized what an Islander is all about.”
