Nelson has represented Team USA four times at the IIHF World Championships since becoming an NHLer.
New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson has been selected to represent Team USA at the Four Nations Face-Off tournament:
Nelson will join the league's best in a four-team tournament consisting of the best players from the United States, Canada, Finland, and Sweden.
At 33 years old, Nelson seems to have found a second gear in his career, which allowed him to be selected.
In his last three seasons, Nelson has had 69 points (34 goals, 24 assists), 75 points (36 goals, 23 assists), and 59 points (37 goals, 22 assists).
Although Nelson isn’t off to a red-hot start in the 24-25 campaign, his goal-scoring ability cannot be overlooked, as he will join a team full of goal-scorers like Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel, and Kyle Connor.
He will be the only one to represent the Islanders at the tournament.
Forward Mathew Barzal was projected to be in the running for Team Canada but has been out with an upper-body injury since Nov. 1.
Defenseman Noah Dobson did not make Team Canada.
Nelson’s spot in the lineup has yet to be determined, but it is a great honor for him to represent the United States on one of the biggest stages the game has ever had.
It is also important to note that this will not be his first international tournament.
He represented Team USA in the World Juniors in 2011 and has participated in five world championships throughout his career.
