Islanders Retool Will Wait, Big Haul Collected In Nelson Deal
The <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/new-york-islanders">New York Islanders</a> clearly had a plan entering the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline.
Q: What was your initial reaction to the trade?
Nelson: "It's been a little bit of a whirlwind. It was nice to get out there and get on the ice, and play and get after it, get to know the staff and the facility. Got to get ready for tomorrow, but lots of emotions and traveling today, but nice to get out there and to play."
Q: How excited are you to be here?
Nelson: "A lot of excitement. I'm jacked up. Once I found out, I told them I’m excited to be here. Such an electric team that has a chance to win and then make a run at it. I’m happy to be a part of it. They saw I’d be a good fit to try and help."
Q: How do you think your style of play will fit into the system?
Nelson: "I'm just going to try to blend in and bring the same game and not worry too much about it."
Q: When you heard it was the Avalanche, what was that thought like?
Nelson: "I guess a lot of emotions, but you hear that you're immediately in a tight race, playoff race, seeding, fighting for the first spot, a chance to win it. So lots of excitement. But at the same time, just happy to be here and get the ball rolling.
