After reaching an NHL milestone and setting a new NHL reclrd, Cal Clutterbuck was named the New York Islanders' Bobby Nystrom Award winner for the 2023-24 season:
It's the first time in his 11 year career with the Islanders he received the honor.
According to the team, it's given to "the player who exemplifies leadership, hustle and dedication." After suffering through injuries over the past several seasons, Clutterbuck stayed healthy for every game this season and reached several milestones.
On Nov. 22, the forward skated in his 1,000th NHL game, a feat that only 398 players hold today. In April, he was named the Islanders' nominee for the BIll Masterton Memorial Trophy by the Professional Hockey Writers Association, given out to the player who, "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey."
Clutterbuck joins teammates Matt Martin, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Casey Cizikas and Anders Lee to receive the honor, along with former teammates Frans Nielsen, Kyle Okposo and Zach Parise.
The forward is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
