On Sunday, shocking news surfaced courtesy of Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman that the Washington Capitals will be buying CapFriendly, the top NHL salary-cap site for fans, media, and teams:
"These same sources stressed that both the Capitals and CapFriendly wanted the site to be publicly available and independently operated through the 2024 NHL Draft and the start of free agency, so it is not expected the sale will be official until at least July 5," Friedman wrote.
It makes sense why an NHL team would want to use it for its own purposes, and CapFriendly certainly deserves a handsome reward for its hard work and dedication.
But now, everyone must find a new spot to get their salary cap information.
While CapFriendly has been dominating the game, the site Puckpedia has been working hard to make its site better and better and will now be the No. 1 spot for this information.
