Aatu Räty heads to Toronto following a waiver stint, marking another chapter for the former second-round pick originally sent to Vancouver in the blockbuster Bo Horvat trade.

Former New York Islanders top prospect Aatu Räty has been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for prospects Jacob Quilan and Brandon Buhr:

Räty, 23, who was selected by the Islanders in the second round (No. 52) of the 2021 NHL Draft, was dealt to the Canucks along with forward Anthony Beauvillier and their 2023 first-round pick in exchange for Bo Horvat, who is now the Islanders' captain.

The Finnish forward, who had just one goal in four games this season, was placed on waivers Wednesday but went unclaimed.

In 118 NHL games, Räty has 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points.
