Ahead of their first game since the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, the New York Islanders have activated Mike Reilly off of long-term injured reserve.
The 31-year-old has not played since Nov. 1 when he sustained a concussion in their 4-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres.
Extensive tests indicated that he had an undiagnosed heart defect, something he was born with. He had no idea and soon after he had a heart procedure done, which put him on the mend.
Reilly had been practicing with the team for a little bit, but there was still no timetable for his return.
He will not play against the Sharks on Saturday night, per head coach Patrick Roy.
Forward Matt Martin (lower body) was also activated off of injured reserve.
Defenseman Scott Mayfield will be a healthy scratch for the fourth time in the last six games. Adam Boqvist will return to the lineup.
Goaltender Marcus Hogberg (upper body) practiced for a second straight day but is still on IR.
