EAST MEADOW, NY -- New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov took part in morning skate on Thursday ahead of their game against the Montreal Canadiens.
However, he likley will miss his second straight game due to illness, per head coach Patrick Roy.
"Romy still does not feel 100 percent. I don't think he will play," Roy said. "I could be surprised, but I'll be very surprised,"
In his absence on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, a second straight come-from-behind victory, Noah Dobson played on his off-side, with Adam Pelech taking Romanov's place alongside Tony DeAngelo.
That's the way the Islanders will run their lines on Thursday.
Not having Romanov is a big loss, so the other defensemen will need to step up, with the Islanders three points back of Montreal for the second wild-card spot.
Warmups will get underway a tad before 7 PM, with puck drop coming at 7:30 PM.
