After Team Canada announced that Bo Horvat was to miss the remainder of the World Championships, New York Islanders GM Mathieu Darche provided an update on Thursday:
"Bo came back from the World Championship. He played outstanding. I got a great review from the staff over there. He's got a little ankle injury, nothing serious. Four to six weeks.
"He's already rehabbing. So there's nothing serious in that, like, there's no concerns whatsoever."
Here is the video where Horvat sustained his injury:
There was no point in Horvat risking it and having any kind of injury impact his preparation for the 2025-26 NHL regular season.
Horvat had eight points (four goals, four assists) in six games for Canada, with three of the goals coming on the power play.
The 30-year-old, who recorded 57 points (28 goals, 29 assists) in 81 games in 2024-25, is entering the third season of an eight-year deal worth $8.5 million annually.
