With the secondary assist on Bo Horvat's opening tally in the New York Islanders' 4-1 win against the Washington Capitals on Sunday, Anders Lee set a new career high in the assist category, with 24.
Lee's 51 points through 76 games, with 27 goals and 24 assists, is the most he's had since his 51 in 2018-19, when he recorded 28 goals with 23 assists.
It's been a major bounce-back season for the 34-year-old captain, after he only recorded 37 points (20 goals, 17 assists).
A significant reason for his turnaround, per Lee, was working with Adam Oates, who is also Bo Horvat's trainer, as well as his decision to switch his stick, going from Bauer to Warrior.
Lee's previous career high in shots on goal was 214 back in 2022-23, and he has 219 this season. His discipline has also helped, with only 33 penalty minutes after 50 in 2022-23 and 68 in 2023-24.
It's taken Lee a few seasons to get back to succeeding with his brand of hockey since sustaining an ACL injury in March of 2021. However, Lee has proven that he has much more left in the tank after a few seasons of seeing his production dip.
Lee has one season remaining on his seven-year deal worth $7 million annually.
