EAST MEADOW, NY -- The New York Islanders have signed defenseman Tony DeAngelo to a one-year extension, The Hockey News can confirm.

He signed a one-year deal worth $1.75 million.

DeAngelo, 29, joined the Islanders last season after beginning the 2024-25 campaign over in Russia. He signed a one-year prorated deal worth $775,000 on January 24.

In 35 games with the Islanders, DeAngelo recorded 19 points (four goals, 15 assists) in 35 games, averaging 23:21 minutes per game while quarterbacking the second power-play unit -- at times the first.

“I’ve loved it. Yeah, I loved it. It's been great. It’s worked out great," DeAngelo said, come season's end.  "I wasn't nervous when I made the choice to sign here, but I made some poor choices as far as things went in my career on when to leave a team and go to a different team. You never know what's gonna happen. This one's been a home run. We have a great group of guys. I haven’t had any decisions [with Lou], so hopefully that’s something we figure out.”

With Noah Dobosn now with the Montreal Canadiens, the Islanders had a clear hole on the right side, which DeAngelo will fill.
