New York's front office reshapes its depth chart, allowing several prospects to enter unrestricted free agency as the organization shifts focus toward veteran reinforcements and roster flexibility.
The New York Islanders have elected to not tender qualifying offers to the following pending restricted free agents: Marc Gatcomb, Max Shabanov, Matthew Maggio, Ruslan Iskhakov, and Tristan Lennox.
The Islanders have tendered qualifying offers to forwards Alex Jefferies, Joey Larson, and Henrik Tikkanen:
Gatcomb recorded seven points (three goals, four assists) in 49 games with the Islanders this past season.
Shabanov, who signed his one-year entry-level deal last summer out of the KHL, recorded 18 points (five goals, 13 assists) in 44 games.
Maggio never made an NHL appearance while Lennox made one.
All non-tendered pending RFAs will become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday afternoon.
The Islanders have a growing prospect pool and seeing turnover shouldn't be seen as a bad thing.
