An early ejection left New York shorthanded after a dangerous collision forced Isaac Howard from the ice, sparking concerns over potential league discipline and a looming injury.
ELMONT, NY -- New York Islanders forward Emil Heineman received a five-minute major and a game misconduct at 2:22 of the first period after he made knee-on-knee contact with Edmonton Oilers forward Isaac Howard in the neutral zone:
Howard had to be helped off the ice as he was unable to put weight on his left leg.
The Islanders played the rest of the game with 11 forwards.
We will have to wait and see if Heineman will get any supplementary discipline.
