
While it's been a crazy summer for the New York Islanders, it's been a unique one for longtime NHLer and recent retiree Matt Martin.
The 36-year-old announced his retirement on June 24, but quickly found a new gig as the new general manager, Mathieu Darche, hired him as an assistant to the GM.
The job is essentially like an internship, where Martin, who has always aspired to move into upper management, will be tasked with performing various tasks for the organization.
