Eighteen-year-old Matthew Schaefer breaks another record, etching his name as history's youngest defenseman to reach 25 points.
On Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer recorded his 25th point, earning the secondary assist on Bo Horvat's first-period power-play goal at 12:08 of the first:
With that assist, Schaefer became the youngest defenseman, at 18 years and 116 days, to reach the 25-point mark.
Through 40 games this season, Schaefer now has nine goals and 16 assists.
