The New York Islanders finished the 2024-25 NHL season over the allotted $88 million salary cap due to their long-term injured reserve usage.

Because of that, finishing the season with -$2.84 million, the Islanders will have a performance bonus overage cap hit in 2025-26. That number, as of now, is $600,000.

Per PuckPedia, forward Matt Martin hit a $100,000 games played bonus for playing more than 10 games. Rookie forward Maxim Tsyplakov earned a $500,000 bonus for ice time and plus-minus performance, the standard bonus on an entry-level contract.

Tsyplakov will be eligible for another $250,000 if he is named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team. That announcement likely won't come until mid June.

The Islanders are projected to have $28.9 million in available cap space this summer, before taking care of their 12 free agents:

Unrestricted: Kyle Palmieri, Martin, Hudson Fasching, Mike Reilly, Tony DeAngelo

Restricted: Tsyplakov, Simon Holmstrom, Marc Gatcomb, Noah Dobson, Alexander Romanov, Scott Perunovich, Adam Boqvist
