


New York Islanders prospect and Muskegon Lumberjacks defenseman Xavier Veilleux hit a buzzer-beater on Saturday night, scoring with 0.1 seconds remaining on the clock to force overtime:
Veilleux and Muskegon unfortunately fell 3-2 in overtime, with Waterfloo forcing a win-or-go-home Game 5 on Tuesday, May 20.
Drafted in the sixth round (No. 179) at the 2024 NHL Draft, Veilleux is a two-way defenseman who is about to turn 19.
The Quebec native recorded 41 points (eight goals, 33 assists), surpassing his totals from his first season in the USHL after recording 32 points (three goals, 29 assists) in 61 games back in 2023-24.
Veilleux has eight points (three goals, five assists) through 13 playoff games.
He will be attending Cornell University in the fall.
