Following a brief stint as a defensive reserve against Edmonton, the young blueliner heads back to the AHL to fulfill mandatory eligibility requirements ahead of another potential recall.
The New York Islanders announced on Sunday that defenseman Isaiah George has been returned to Hamilton of the American Hockey League.
George was recalled but did not play for the Islanders on Saturday in their 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. He served as the extra defenseman, with Matthew Kessel returning to the lineup and Ryan Pulock unable to play due to an upper-body injury.
Under the new CBA, George must play at least one AHL game before he's eligible for a recall. However, that won't be an issue, as Hamilton plays on Sunday.
So, George, if need be, can be recalled after the game.
Pulock was seeing doctors on Saturday and we have yet to hear the results. It's possible that he avoided anything major.
We'll keep you updated.
