When the New York Islanders acquired defenseman Scott Perunovich from the St. Louis Blues for a conditional 2026 fith-round round pick, there were some question marks regarding what the actual condition was.

According to colleague Lou Korac, Perunovich had to play in at least 20 games for the Islanders the rest of the season for the pick to be moved to the Blues.

Perunovich only played 11 games for Long Island.

The 26-year-old played in nine straight games after being acquired but after struggling to box out New York Rangers forward Matthew Rempe on Feb. 25, Perunovich found himself a healthy scratch for 23 straight games.

He played the final two games of the season because Alexander Romanov was sick.

Perunovich, who had nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 35 games, three assists in 11 games with the Islanders is a restricted free agent. His qualifying offer is $1.15 million, and he is eligible for arbitration.
