An NHL season takes a tremendous toll on everybody involved, regardless of success or failure.

The summer is a time for everyone, including the fans and the media, to undergo mental and physical resets while spending more time with family and friends.

It's also a time for families to get a little bit bigger.

While former New York Islanders forward, now special assistant to the GM, Matt Martin welcomed twins at the tail-end of the regular season, Maxim Tsyplakov and his wife welcomed their second child:

Tsyplakov is still without a contract, a restrictd free agent, but the expectation is that a deal will get done.

Speaking of deals that got done, Simon Holmstrom inked a two-year extension and also a life-time contract as he got engaged:

    Copy cat...

Right after the season ended, Pierre Engvall welcomed a child:

This is what the summer is all about.  I hope everyone is taking the chance to relax a bit in the sun.
