Tsyplakov did not receive a penatly on the hit.

On Friday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that New York Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov will receive a hearing for a high hit on Philadelphia Flyers forward Ryan Poehling.

After an over-the-phone hearing, Tsyplakov has been suspended x games.

The hit occurred in the first period of the game when Poehling was cutting to the low slot. Tsyplakov read the play and then laid an explosive hit:

Poehling did not return to the game after suffering an upper-body injury.

Upon further review, no penalty was awarded.

Given this is Tsyplakov's first NHL season, he is not a repeat offender under the Department of Player Safety Guidelines. He is the first Islanders player to receive a hearing this season.

The Islanders will likely learn of Tsyplakov's availability for Saturday's game against the San Jose Sharks this evening.
