Islanders play-by-play broadcaster Brendan Burke is day-to-day due to illness and was not available to call the Islanders Sunday night showdown against the Ducks. In came Bridgeport's radio broadcaster Alan Fuehring to save the day.
ANAHEIM, CA -- After defeating the San Jose Sharks 7-2 on Thursday night, the New York Islanders, the MSGSN broadcasting crew, and the media traveled to Anaheim for the next game on this four-game road trip.
However, Islanders play-by-play broadcaster Brendan Burke is day-to-day due to illness and was not available to call the Islanders Sunday night showdown against the Ducks.
So, Bridgeport Islanders radio broadcaster and MSGSN fill-in Alan Fuehring, well, filled in.
But it wasn't as if he was already in Anaheim. The talented broadcaster had to get out to Anaheim last second:
It likely helped Fuehring, with his preparation, that he called the Islanders game against the Ducks back on Dec. 13. It was Not an easy task to go from radio to television, especially at the last second, but Fuehring is a professional and did a phenomenal job filling Burke's shoes.
