New York Islanders prospect Alex Jefferies has signed an ATO with Bridgeport.
New York Islanders prospect Alex Jefferies has signed with the Bridgeport Islanders on an Amateur Tryout (ATO):
The six-foot, 195-pound left winger was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft and has been a menace with Merrimack College.
After a 41-point campaign (14 goals, 27 assists) in his junior season (2022-23), the Islanders offered him an entry-level contract per McMahon, but he decided to return for his senior year.
In his final season at Merrimack, Jefferies scored 13 goals with 10 assists in 22 games.
Signing Jefferies to an ATO is not uncommon, as the Islanders did this last season with college free agents Aidan Fulp and Travis Mitchell before eventually inning them to their entry-level contracts.
Expect Jefferies to ink his ELC soon.
The Islanders have until Aug. 15 to officially lock up the gifted winger before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
