New York Islanders captain Anders Lee will be receiving some hardware at the 2024 NHL Award Show in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, the NHL announced that Lee was the 2023-24 recipient of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.

This award is given to "the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution to his community."

"It's been a wonderful experience meeting the kids, the families. Had a special relationship with one of them, Fenov," Lee said before Game 4 between the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers on ESPN. "He's my guy and really the big inspiration behind all of this. I wanted to carry on the message that he had, helping kids and families with cancer."

Named captain of the Islanders ahead of the 2018-19 season, Lee has done exceptional work in the community.

Last September, before the start of training camp, Lee hosted his fourth Jam Kancer event, which raises money for families affected by cancer.

Lee hosted his first Jam Kancer event in 2017, and after Fenov sadly passed away a year later, the Islanders captain started a college scholarship in his name. The scholarship rewards two high school seniors who "provide help and sympathy" to someone battling cancer.

While winning must mean the world to Lee and the hard work and dedication of so many, the NHL also donates $25,0000 to Lee's charity of choice.

The last Islander to win this prestigious award was former captain Doug Weight back in 2010-11.
