The Islanders extended their win streak to four games, coming back to defeat the Blues 4-2.

The New York Islanders looked to extend their win streak to four games on Tuesday night against the St. Louis Blues.

The Islanders did just that, overcoming a two goal deficit to beat Blues 4-2.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau (44) celebrates a goal during the Islanders 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues

The first period was scoreless with the Islanders being up in the shot department 10-8 over the Blues.

St. Louis opened the scoring at 1:21 of the second period on an Alexey Toropchenko goal. Bo Horvat made a drop pass to vacant space, where Jake Neighbors found Toropchenko who took it the distance with a two-on-one opportunity before sniping it past Ilya Sorokin.

Jordan Kyrou made the score 2-0 Blues at 8:30 of the second, after Brandon Saad lifted the stick of Horvat in front of the net, then feeding Kyrou who banked it home.

Kyle Palmieri continued his hot streak and finally got the Islanders on the board at 12:32 of the second. Adam Pelech found Palmieri on a stretch pass, who then drove the net and tucked the puck behind St. Louis goalie Joel Hofer to cut the lead to 2-1.

JG Pageau tied the game at two when he drove home a loose puck that was produced by a Sebastian Aho shot at 17:05. Palmieri also picked up an assist on the play after winning the faceoff.

The Islanders and Blues headed to the locker room at the end of the second period in a 2-2 game, both desperately needing two points to stay alive in their respective playoff races.

The Islanders took an early 3-2 lead in the third period when Horvat snuck in a wrap-around goal 55 seconds in after Hofer stoned his initial shot attempt. Brock Nelson and Pelech picked up assists on the play.

Mathew Barzal closed the book on the game with an empty net goal with 30 seconds left in the contest.
