The 20-year-old suffered an upper-body injury on Jan. 2.

EAST MEADOW, NY --  New York Islanders rookie defenseman Isaiah George was back on the practice sheet on Monday for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury in the Islanders' 2-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 2.

He was on the receiving end of a Max Domi elbow after a reverse hit, forcing him into concussion protocol.

George, who has proven to be a no-doubt NHL defenseman, was settling into a third-pairing role alongside Scott Mayfield.

The 20-year-old was not placed on any form of injured reserve, so he is eligible to return to the lineup when ready.

Dennis Cholowski has filled his role over these last three games.
