After the New York Islanders announced their hiring of Benoit Desrosiers as the newest member of their coaching staff, the Los Angeles Kings shared a coaching announcement of their own.

Jim Hiller is a name that should sound familiar to Islanders fans as he ran their power play from 2019 through 2022 before joining the Kings after Barry Trotz was relieved of his duties.

In his two years manning the Islanders a man (or two) up, the power play operated at 19.6 percent.

With Los Angeles, starting there in 2022-23, the Kings own a power play of 23.8 percent, seventh-best in the NHL.

This season, their power play sits at 21.2 percent, which ranks 16th.

Hiller embarks on his first career NHL gig, with an interim tag, looking to help the Kings turn things around after what was a strong start.
