If you were watching the New York Islanders MSG broadcast on Monday night, you may have been surprised by Brendan Burke's goal call on Kyle MacLean's 4-1 tally at 6:17 of the third.
"Goal! Islanders Goal! Islanders Goal!" Burke yelled.
No, nothing was wrong. Burke was just honoring John Sterling, the long-time New York Yankees and former Islanders radio broadcaster, who announced on Monday that he would be retiring after a 65-year career:

Here was Burke's call of MacLean's goal on Monday:
It was a great thing that Burke did, someone who has a close relationship with Sterling.
Burke's father, Don, covered the Yankees for the Bergen Record and The Star-Ledger.
Brendan would always be around Yankee Stadium and, at times, watched Sterling and his "compañera" Suzyn Waldman call games from the WFAN booth.
The Islanders' broadcaster shared this story on their radio airwaves last season when he filled in for Sterling.
Sterling, who grew up in Manhattan, is an absolute legend and deserves to be immortalized in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
