The veteran forward is banged up in Bridgeport.

New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy isn't getting enough out of forward Oliver Wahlstrom

But, even if he was considering taking the 23-year-old forward out of the lineup, he has no options at the NHL level.

Forward Hudson Fasching hasn't skated with the team since suffering a lower-body injury on Jan. 25 against the Montreal Canadiens.

Julien Gauthier was waived on Feb. 2. to create enough salary cap space to activate defenseman Ryan Pulock off long-term injured reserve.

If the Islanders were thinking about recalling Gauthier, they would need to clear $787,500 -- which would automatically create a roster spot, per CapFriendly.com

However, after playing just one game for Bridgeport, Gauthier is not an option right now for the Islanders.

After a hot start to his Bridgeport tenure, scoring 39 seconds into the game, Gauthier suffered an upper-body injury forcing him to miss the remainder of their 4-1 loss to the Hartford Wolf Pack as well as Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

On Sunday, Bridgeport head coach Rick Kowalsky said that Gauthier will be reevaluated this upcoming week as he'll have adequate time to get healthy as the AHL club doesn't play again until Friday.

If the Islanders do want to recall a forward, they could bring up centerman Kyle MacLean because he can play the wing. They would have to clear $800,000.
