Mathew Barzal is the only member of the New York Islanders who will be in attendance for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.

The NHL unveiled the remaining participants in All-Star Weekend on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night.

Mathew Barzal will be the New York Islanders lone representative at the festivities, with Noah Dobson and Bo Horvat losing out on the fan vote.

Barzal has been the Islanders’ top offensive forward this season, boasting 12 goals and 33 assists, 45 points, entering the team’s game with the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

This season will be his third trip to All-Star Weekend.

Last season saw Barzal miss out on the festivities in favor of Brock Nelson and Ilya Sorokin

Nelson, the winner of last year’s Accuracy Shooting event at the Skills Competition, will not make a repeat appearance despite leading the Islanders in goals with 19.

Sorokin has had a down year following his first All-Star season.

Despite missing out, Horvat and Dobson each had All-Star-worthy resumes. Dobson has been one of the league’s top offensive defensemen, tallying six goals and 36 assists for 42 points and sitting inside the top three in points by defensemen this season.

Horvat made the All-Star Game last year shortly before a trade to the Islanders in January but struggled offensively in his first games as an Islander. With Barzal healthy for the team this season, his offense has picked up with their chemistry, tallying 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points.

As is the case with many All-Star Games, players are bound to pull out for a myriad of reasons. If anyone has to miss the game, either Horvat or Dobson will likely earn heavy consideration, but time will tell if it comes to fruition.

The NHL will unveil the uniforms for the event during the first intermission of games on Hockey Night in Canada.

This is a developing story. The Hockey News will share more information as it becomes available.
