SUNRISE, FL -- New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal and defenseman Scott Mayfield will not play against the Florida Panthers on Sunday night.
Both sustained lower-body injuries in their 3-2 overtime win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, the first leg of their back-to-back.
"Will know more tomorrow," Islanders head coach Patrick Roy said. "That's all I can't say for now."
Mayfield missed the final 23:51 of the game while Barzal blocked a Darren Raddysh slapshot off the left knee with 1:20 to play in the third:
Forward Anthony Duclair, who missed Saturday's game due to illness, will draw back in and skate alongside Bo Horvat and Anders Lee on the top line.
Defenseman Dennis Cholowski, who hasn't played since Jan. 24, will draw in for Mayfield and will likely skate alongside former Panther Adam Boqvist.
Jakub Skarek makes his NHL debut in goal.
