Congrats to the MSG Network Islanders crew and their club's media team for their New York Emmy nominations.
The New York Islanders MSG Networks team is more than just a solid broadcast group.
They've become a key part of the Islanders family.
From Brendan Burke, arguably the best broadcaster in the business, to Butch Goring, the best trade deadline pickup of all time, to Shannon Hogan, one of the nicest souls there is, to Thomas Hickey, one of the best hockey analysts out there, this broadcast crew is a star-studded group that goes above and beyond to bring the best they can on a nightly basis.
All four of these people have had a tremendous impact on my career, whether it's through offering advice or just having conversations at dinner on the road.
So, it's no shock to read that Burke, Hogan, and Hickey have received Emmy nominations:
Shoutout to the media team as well for the work they've done.
Eric Hornick, the New York Islanders' broadcast statistician, has become a dear friend. We catch up before every game. He's as key to a successful broadcast as anyone.
Also, a shoutout to Steve Napolitani and Joel Mandelbaum, the producers, who do magnificent work behind the scenes. These are two people I've gotten to know over my first few years on the beat.
There are some teams whose broadcast is just a broadcast.
But there are some, like the New York Mets, whose crew of Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez are likely family to them.
The same can be said for the Islanders faithful with the squad that MSG has, so seeing them be nominated for Emmys should be a proud moment for the Blue & Orange faithful.
