ELMONT, NY -- After blowing a 3-1 lead, the New York Islanders recovered to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 thanks to a last-minute goal by Kyle Palmieri.

    Here's how it happened:

Through three power plays in the first period, the Islanders had failed to record a shot.

But Mathew Barzal made quick work of their fourth power play, sniping from the high slot off the glove-side post and in to give the Islanders a 1-0 lead at 18:43 of the first.

The Flyers evened up the score on their second power play of the night at 2:04 of the second after Anthony Richard's shot from the right dot deflected off Alexander Romanov's stick and past Jakub Skarek:

The Islanders' new-look fourth line, for now, got them back in front after Casey Cizikas found Kyle MacLean at the glove-side post after a fake shot at 5:42 of the second:

Anders Lee deflected a Mike Reilly power-play rocket at 11:04 of the second to give the Islanders a 3-1 lead:

The Flyers made it a 3-2 game at 14:13 of the second after he hit off Brendan Furry before trickling past Skarek:

Rasmus Ristolainen tied the game at 3-3 on the power play with Mayfield in the penalty box for the second time after being the beneficiary of a nice bounce:

Palmieri bailed out the Islanders with 51 seconds to play in regulation, delaying as he cut across the crease before roofing one past Alexei Kolosov.

Scott Mayfield, who took two penalties in the game, made a perfect pass to Palmieri for the game-winner:

Skarek, who has impressed the entire training camp, stopped 16 of 19, including a few strong saves in the third period.
