The PHWA honors the Islanders’ communications team for fostering elite media access and athlete authenticity, capping off a standout season for public relations director Kimber Auerbach.

On Wednesday, the Professional Hockey Writers Association announced that the New York Islanders Public Relations team is one of three winners of the Dick Dillman Memorial Award for PR excellence.

A special shoutout to Kimber Auerbach, Jesse Eisenberg, and Sami Levin for the work they do to make sure that not only do we as reporters get the daily access we need to do the job, but also that players are allowed to be themselves and focus on their task at hand.

Auerbach, who always makes sure not to take any credit for club achievements, was part of Team USA's gold medal-winning team in Italy this past winter -- a big year for him.

When PR teams don't work with their writers, we can't provide the stories you guys love to read, so I'm thankful for the squad I get to work with day in and day out during the season and even in the offseason, that's for sure.
