Quinn Finley, drafted by the New York Islanders 78th overall in 2022, has just taken over the national lead in goals and points in his sophomore season for the University of Wisconsin Badgers.
Finley is another Islanders prospect who has blossomed into a potential difference-maker. The 20-year-old winger has had quite the year.
His offensive abilities have grown since winning a gold medal with Team USA as a fourth-liner and PK specialist at the 2024 World Junior Championship a year ago.
He won that gold medal with fellow Islanders prospect Danny Nelson, who just won back-to-back golds with Team USA after a dazzling tournament.
Finley now has 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points in just 22 games with the Badgers and is currently on a six-game point streak.
When Finley was drafted to the Islanders, there were questions about his six-foot, 179-pound frame.
Now, he has added strength to his already quick, skillful offensive game and has propelled himself to one of college hockey's best stories.
Finley scored 10 goals a season ago and tallied six assists for 16 points in 36 games in his freshman season. He has already smashed those numbers with a lot more games left to play.
Islanders' prospects are continuing to do well. Finley could become another 2022 draft success story for the organization, like Isaiah George, who was selected 98th overall that year and has shown promise in the NHL.
Watch out for Finley and the Badgers for the rest of this college hockey season.
