The Islanders have only been able to have a fully healthy forward group for the better part of nine games.

New York Islanders forward Simon Holmstrom will not play against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday due to an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day:

Holmstrom was involved in a collision in the third period in their 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, leaving the game with 8:46 to play in the third.

The Swedish forward has been solid for the team, fifth in goals with nine and fourth overall in points with 22 while playing in all 37 games this season.

In 2023-24, he played in 75 of the 82 regular-season games, missing seven but none due to injury.

Holmstrom's injury comes at a time when the team was just getting used to having their forwards be fully healthy.

The last 16 days have seen forwards Matt Barzal and Anthony Duclair return from long injuries, with Duclair being out since the team's fifth game of the season.

After Tuesday's contest in Toronto, the Islanders host the Leafs on Thursday night at 7:30 PM.
