Here were the line combinations:
Here's the summary.
Team Blue only needed 22 seconds to open the scoring after offseason free agent signing Frederik Karlstrom sniped Semyon Varlamov glove side from the left dot.
Team White answered soon after as Bo Horvat, on a semi-breakaway beat free agent signing Marcus Hogberg over the glove to tie the game at 1-1.
Before the end of the first period, Hudson Fasching received a strong feed from Dennis Cholowski at the right point, redirecting the pass bar down on Hogberg to give White a 2-1 lead.
Early in the second period, Mathew Barzal, with time and space, sent a wrist shot above Varlamov's left pad to tie the game at 2-2 before Julien Gauthier gave White the lead after banging home his own rebound, making it a 3-2 game.
In the third period, free agent signing Marcus Gatcomb found a loose puck in front of goal, tying the game at 3-3 with 9:04 to play in the third.
However, Gauthier's second of the game put White back on top.
After a quick touch-pass from Casey Cizikas inside the left dot, Gauthier wound up and sent a puck on edge right to the left corner, beating Hogberg (switched teams) blocker side to put White up 4-3.
But, in the final minute, Maxim Tsyplakov found Frederik Karlstrom in front of goal to tie the game:
Head coach Patrick Roy didn't elect for overtime or a shootout, making the guys do sandbaggers for a few minutes.
Horvat on Tsyplakov: "He just makes a lot of good little plays out there. He's not gonna wow you or anything with his speed, but he just makes smart plays, and he made a lot of really good plays. We had a lot of give and goes and some pretty good chemistry out there on the first day, and he's just gonna keep getting better."
Fasching on Duclair: "He's using that speed to create space for the players out there. I think that creativity is a big piece for him. He's just going so fast. He can cover so much space. Between that and a long stick, he's always going around guys "
