In late December, the New York Islanders and UBS Arena opened "The Park", a twin-rink wonderland a one-minute walk from the main entrance.
Skating and rentals weren't free, but it offered fans a unique opportunity to hit the ice before their favorite team did.
The key word there was "weren't."
The Park at UBS Arena is changing the game, offering free skating and rentals courtesy of UBS starting this Saturday before the Islanders battle Barry Trotz and the Nashville Predators.
Also, if there are any community skating events that you or a family and friends have signed up for, UBS ensures that skate rental will be free.
So, with money no longer in the way of skating, go hit the ice at The Park, whether it's before a hockey game, a concert, or an Islanders' watch party.
