BUFFALO, NY -- Boston University defenseman Sascha Boumedienne spoke glowingly about teammate and New York Islanders prospect Cole Eiserman after the draft-eligible prospect completed his NHL Draft Combine workout.
"I mean, he's an unreal shooter. He has a shot I haven't really seen before," the 18-year-old defenseman said. "You just got to give him the puck, and he'll definitely put it in the back of the net. So, yeah, he's a really good sniper and an unreal teammate and big leader on our team."
Eiserman, who fell to the Islanders at No. 20 in the 2024 NHL Draft, recorded 36 points in his first 39 NCAA games, with his 25 goals the most of any freshman in the nation. He added 11 assists to that stat line.

While an elite goal scorer is something the Islanders desperately need, the energy and compete level that Eiserman plays with is what makes him even more exciting.
"The energy is awesome for us," Boumedienne said." I mean, he shows up always with a smile on his face, and there's a ton of energy. He has good jokes to him and always has a calm mentality, and is always a hard worker. And, like I said, a leader on our team."
I also asked Sascha about Islanders prospect Kamil Bednarik, who they selected in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft (No. 61).
"He's just a guy who's a threat not only in the o-zone, but he defends really hard and is good all over the ice," Sascha said. "He's an unreal teammate and shows up to the rink with a ton of work ethic and a will to get better. So, yeah, we're fortunate to have him."
Bednarik recorded 19 points (two goals, 17 assists) in 40 games this season. I was told that Bednarik was one of the best two-way centers in his draft class.
Both Eisenman and Bednarik won gold with Team USA at the 2025 World Junior Championships and are expected to return to Boston College for their sophomore seasons.
