NEW YORK, NY -- Since 5:33 of the first period of Thursday's 3-2 overtime victory against the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Islanders and their fans have collectively held their breath.
Defenseman Noah Dobson, whose been an offensive catalyst with 10 goals and 60 assists on the season, suffered an upper-body injury.
After the game, Islanders head coach Patrick Roy said that Dobson would be evaluated on Friday.
Ahead of their Saturday matinee against the cross-town rival New York Rangers, Roy gave an update on the status of his 24-year-old defenseman.
"Day to day, upper body," Roy said.
As for how the defense will lineup, Roy is going with this:
Adam Pelech-Ryan Pulock
Alexander Romanov-Sebastian Aho
Mile Reilly-Robert Bortuzzo
Aho will quarterback the first power-play unit.
Up until this point, Dobson hasn't missed a game this season, and his loss from the lineup will be a major one at 5-on-5 and the power play.

There will be one other change, with Hudson Fasching coming in for Simon Holmstrom.
"He's young, he's learning, and we want Fasching to play," Roy said. "I mean, we're down the road here, and we don't know what's going to transpire after the season, but we need everybody to be able to play and be ready to play."
Puck drop between the Islanders and the Rangers is coming up at 12:30 PM ET.
